Lopid is an antihyperlipidemic agent. It works by lowering the blood levels of triglycerides and low-density lipoprotein (LDL) ("bad") cholesterol by reducing their production by the liver. It also increases blood levels of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) ("good") cholesterol.
How to use Lopid:
Use Lopid as directed by your doctor. Check the label on the medicine for exact dosing instructions.
- Take Lopid by mouth twice a day 30 minutes before morning and evening meals, unless otherwise directed by your doctor.
- Lopid is most effective when used with a diet that reduces the intake of cholesterol and saturated fats, and an exercise program.
- If you miss a dose of Lopid , take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.

Possible side effects of Lopid:
All medicines may cause side effects, but many people have no, or minor, side effects. Check with your doctor if any of these most COMMON side effects persist or become bothersome:
- Blurred vision; diarrhea; dizziness; gas; headache; indigestion; nausea; stomach pain; tiredness; vomiting.
Seek medical attention right away if any of these SEVERE side effects occur:
- Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); diarrhea; muscle pain; nausea; persistent or severe stomach pain; tenderness; vomiting; weakness.

Proper storage of Lopid:
Store Lopid at room temperature, between 68 and 77 degrees F (20 and 25 degrees C). Store away from heat, moisture, and light. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep Lopid out of the reach of children and away from pets.
