Proscar is intended for:
Treating urinary problems caused by an enlarged prostate gland (benign prostatic hyperplasia, BPH). Proscar is also used to reduce the risk of needing surgery to manage BPH. Proscar can be used with another drug (doxazosin) to reduce the risk of worsening BPH. Proscar may also be used for other conditions as decided by your doctor. Proscar is a sort of steroid reductase inhibitor. Proscar operates by reducing the amount of the hormone dihydrotestosterone (DHT) in the body. This makes the prostate gland smaller, which helps to diminish urinary problems.
